Nashua Rugby Skills Project

A world class rugby skills coaching experience.

At the Empangeni High School in Zululand a world class rugby skills coaching experience was hosted by the ShadowBall Academy and Nashua Zululand.

The Nashua Rugby Skills project, powered by the ShadowBall Academy and Nashua Zululand, offered 38 Grade 8 rugby players the opportunity to improve their techniques and performance by finding new ways to develop their rugby skills. The ShadowBall is a unique rugby training ball designed to rebound off any wall and come spiraling right back to the passer. This means players can train as often as they like on their own.

Gary Crookes of the Shadow Ball Academy, tested each player on their pass-and-receive skills, and provided the players with the relevant tools and coaching. Using what they have learnt, the players will apply this coaching over the next few weeks, where after they will be assessed on their improvement.

This amazing innovation in pass-and-receive technique training is endorsed by The Centre of Human Performance Sciences at Stellenbosch University. ShadowBall is also a regular training tool of: Golden Lions wing Selom Gavor, ex-Springbok 7’s captain and SuperSport commentator Gcobani Bobo, Irish Player of the Year CJ Stander and Wallabies scrum-half Nick Phipps.

This training will result in better game performance for the players of Empangeni High School and will add additional value to their performance.

We are looking forward to seeing how they have progress in a few weeks’ time.

ShadowBall and Nashua Zululand, making a difference.
